Meet Jason

Nearly 30 Years of Real-World Automotive Sales Experience

Jason Young is a seasoned automotive sales professional with nearly 30 years of real-world experience in the automotive industry. What sets Jason apart is not simply the length of his career, but where that experience was gained—on the front lines, working directly with customers, overcoming objections, building relationships, dealing with rejection, and learning what it takes to consistently succeed in a highly competitive sales environment.

Jason spent more than two decades on the sales floor. He knows what it feels like to start a month at zero, to wonder where the next customer is coming from, and to experience the highs and lows that come with a career in sales. He also knows what it takes to change your results. Jason began his career as what he describes as a “five-car-a-month salesperson” and worked his way into becoming a consistent six-figure producer.

That journey is a major part of what drives Jason today.

He doesn’t teach sales from a textbook. He teaches from experience.

Jason has lived through the mistakes, frustrations, setbacks, breakthroughs, and successes that salespeople experience throughout their careers. He understands that knowing what to do and actually being able to do it when a customer is sitting in front of you are two very different things.

More Than Just Sales Training

Jason’s passion for training comes from a genuine desire to help people.

He wants to help new salespeople build a strong foundation instead of spending years trying to figure everything out on their own. He wants to help experienced salespeople who have become comfortable, frustrated, or stuck find a new level of performance. And he wants to help managers develop the skills and tools necessary to get the best out of their people.

Jason also understands the challenges managers face.

Throughout his career, he experienced managers who were excellent at managing people and others who struggled to understand how to motivate and coach experienced salespeople. Jason believes that managing a salesperson and developing a salesperson are two different skills.

Not every salesperson responds to the same approach.

Some need accountability. Some need encouragement. Some need someone to challenge them. Others simply need someone who understands what they are going through and can help them see a different path forward.

That understanding has become a major part of Jason’s coaching philosophy.

The Evolution of a Salesperson

Jason’s own career has been built around constantly learning and adapting.

Early in his career, like many salespeople, his focus was heavily influenced by price, payments, trades, and getting customers to make a decision. Over time, he discovered that there was a better way.

His breakthrough came from learning how to slow the process down, ask better questions, understand what the customer was actually trying to accomplish, and build value before discussing numbers.

Instead of simply selling a vehicle, Jason learned to help customers make the right decision.

That shift changed the way he sold.

Customer relationships improved. Conversations became more productive. Sales became more consistent. And the sales process became less about trying to “close” someone and more about helping a customer understand why a particular vehicle made sense for them.

This became the foundation of Jason’s approach to value-based selling.

Sales Is Still About People

Technology has changed the automotive industry. Customers have more information than ever before. They can research vehicles, pricing, reviews, payments, trades, and competitors before ever stepping into a dealership.

But one thing has not changed:

People still buy from people.

The ability to communicate, build trust, ask the right questions, understand needs, create value, and guide a customer through a decision remains at the heart of professional selling.

Jason believes these skills are becoming a lost art in an industry that can sometimes become too focused on numbers, processes, technology, and transactions.

His goal is not to take salespeople backward.

It is to combine the best of traditional relationship-based selling with the realities of today's modern customer.

Training That Can Actually Be Used

Jason’s training style is practical, straightforward, and relatable.

He believes training should not simply sound good in a classroom. Salespeople should be able to take what they learn and use it when they walk back onto the showroom floor.

That means real conversations, real situations, real objections, practical techniques, and processes that make sense.

Jason also understands that every dealership is different. After working with dealerships and sales teams in different markets, he has seen firsthand that there is no single process that works perfectly for every store.

Market conditions are different. Customers are different. Management styles are different. Sales teams are different.

That is why Jason’s approach is built around understanding the individual dealership, identifying what is working, identifying what isn't, and developing strategies that fit the people and the market.

The Bigger Goal

Jason believes great sales training should create more than better salespeople.

It should create more confident people.

People who enjoy coming to work. People who understand what they are capable of. People who can earn a better living while creating a better experience for their customers. People who can build a career rather than simply work a job.

His goal is to help salespeople improve their performance, increase their income, develop confidence, and create a healthier and more sustainable approach to their careers.

At the same time, Jason works with managers and dealership leaders to help them create an environment where their people can succeed.

Because ultimately, sales performance isn't just about what happens during the customer interaction.

It is about the people, the culture, the process, the leadership, and the mindset behind it.

The Jason Young Approach

After nearly three decades in automotive sales, Jason has learned one important lesson:

There is always another level.

There is always something to learn. Another skill to develop. Another way to communicate. Another opportunity to improve.

Jason brings that mindset to every dealership, every salesperson, and every training session.

His approach is built on experience, accountability, practical strategies, continuous improvement, and a genuine desire to help people succeed.

He doesn't claim to have all the answers.

He believes his job is to help salespeople and managers discover the answers that work for them.

That is the foundation of Jason Young Sales Performance Company.
